Fat Jewish Guy Gets a Fat Jewish Dog

Fat Jewish Guy

For those of you who have been reading for a while, you know that Shorty and I got a dog about 6 months ago.

His name was Bagel, and he died shortly after we got him.

Shorty had a hard time coping with his untimely death, and not a day went by that she didn’t talk about bagel.

It made me sad, and hungry.

But anyway, over the weekend, we passed some Shady Mexicans Selling puppies on the side of the road and I immediately fell in love with this mini daschund.

Shorty wasn’t sure if she was ready for another puppy, and that’s when I reassured her by telling her the story of my littlest brother.

Let’s call him Joe the Plumber.

You see, my mom was pregnant with Joe the Plumber in 1983 when she had a miscarriage.

I remember that she was devastated and even I at my young age was upset, because I wanted another little brother.

But, it was not in the cards at the time.

A few months later, my mom was pregnant again, and finally nine months later my baby brother was born.

Now, I explained to Shorty that if my mom had given up after we lost Joe, then I would never have been treated to a wonderful baby brother whom I love dearly.

Ok, maybe this wasn’t the best analogy and of course I don’t equate losing a puppy after two weeks to a miscarriage, but you get the point.

Shorty did as well, and we took the dog home with us.

Patti Stanger

I wanted to name him Maverick and Shorty wanted to name him Strudel.

Then I came up with WiFido and she said no.

How about Ice pop?

No.

Cheesesteak?

No.

Finally, we settled on pretzel.

It was fate.

You see, a pretzel dog is a hot dog wrapped in a pretzel.

Our dog is a hot dog.

Our old dog was called bagel.

A bagel dog is a hot dog wrapped in a bagel.

So, we came full circle.

It’s fitting during this season of the Jewish New Year, to celebrate life and not dwell on the past.

Pretzel is a great edition to our household.

Now, I am hungry again.

Apparently so was Pretzel.

That’s my Boy!
